Mission Statement

After tragically losing a colleague to suicide, and seeing the recent suicides related to other helping professionals, Derek recognized the urgent need for accessible and affordable support for depression and anxiety, and founded Mindful Mental Training Inc. Our focus is mental health prevention, and we provide Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in an online platform.

Our mission is to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing clinically supported mindfulness-based interventions, with the ultimate goal of preventing suicides.

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a form of attention and awareness training cultivated through meditation. This skillful practice teaches us to shift attention in the present moment, and suspend our automatic judgments to learn what is arising. Through this process, we learn increase our resilience by gently being with difficult thoughts, emotions, or body sensations.
